Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

PronounceIt (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data is involved when you use pronounceit.app, and the choices you have.

The short version

PronounceIt has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not ask for or store personal details on our servers. Your learning progress stays in your own browser. We use privacy-respecting analytics and advertising, described below.

Information stored in your browser

Features like history, XP, streaks, badges, and your “tricky words” list are saved using your browser's localStorage / sessionStorage. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and you can clear it any time by clearing your browser data.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymous usage (such as which pages are visited, device type, and approximate region). This helps us improve the site. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Advertising

We may display ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies are used for analytics and advertising as described above, and (only if you log into the private admin area) for a session. A consent notice is shown on the site; you can manage cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Third-party services

To look up pronunciations, definitions, rhymes, and translations, the words you enter may be sent to trusted third-party APIs (for example, Free Dictionary, Datamuse, and MyMemory translation) to fetch results. We do not send them any information about your identity.

Contacting us

If you email us or use the feedback form, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your name, email, and message) so we can respond. We use it only to reply and improve the site.

Children's privacy

PronounceIt is a general education resource intended for a broad, all-ages audience. We do not require accounts and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided personal information (for example, via the feedback form), contact us and we will delete it.
