Our mission

Pronunciation is one of the hardest parts of learning and using English, and good tools are often locked behind sign-ups or paywalls. PronounceIt exists to make accurate, easy-to-follow pronunciation help free and available to everyone — students, English learners, teachers, professionals, and anyone who has ever paused before saying a tricky word or name.

• Learn the 44 sounds of English, minimal pairs, and commonly confused or mispronounced words.
• Practise out loud with record-and-compare, plus an instant pronunciation score.

How it works

PronounceIt combines the browser's built-in speech technology with curated linguistic data (phonetics, syllables, IPA). There are no accounts and no sign-up — your progress is saved privately in your own browser.

Two things are worth being precise about, because other sites are vague about them. When you record and compare yourself, that recording is held in your browser and is never sent to us. When you use the say-it-and-get-scored feature, the score is calculated in your browser — but the speech-to-text itself is done by your browser's own speech service, which in Chrome, Edge and Safari means the audio is sent to that vendor to be transcribed. We never receive or store it. See our Privacy Policy for details.
